The Ipsos Group follows the principles of the UN Global Compact
Paris, 26 January 2009. Jean-Marc Lech and Didier Truchot, co-Presidents of Ipsos announced that Ipsos was going to join the UNO Global Compact initiative.
The board of directors of Ipsos approved of the accession on 17 December 2008. This commitment constitutes a part of the programme entitled “Responsibility”, whereby Ipsos is pursuing and extending its activities related to assuming social and corporate responsibility.
The UNO launched the Global Compact in the year of 2000 with the primary purpose to harmonise business interests with universal social and environmental values. The companies that join the Global Compact “embrace, support and enact” the ten basic principles covering the areas of human rights, labour standards, the environment, and anti-corruption. These ten principles originate from internationally accepted norms like the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Declaration of the International Labour Organisation on work-related principles and rights, as well as the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development.
Didier Truchot announced: “Being an international corporate group that is active in more than 100 countries, Ipsos must take a role in turning business activities into the motor of sustainable development. By joining the UN Global Compact, Ipsos wished to express its long-term commitment, claiming there can be expansion and growth only with responsibility, i.e. in a manner that it should prove to be beneficial to the local economy and society”.
