Quantitative methods

In-hall research

With an in-hall research Clients can gain information – besides the results of the quantitative research – about qualitative factors such as the inducement of customers’ decisions or background of their choice.

We recommend applying an in-hall method if respondents should evaluate stimulus materials which would be very difficult to present in an in-home interview. That could be, for example, food; various communication materials, commercials; any kind of a new product or its concept or any other stimulus material that is available only in a restricted amount. Due to the characteristics of the method respondents meet the presented stimulus material under controlled and standard circumstances.

Further advantages of the method are quickness and cost-effectiveness.

Most frequent topics of in-hall researches:

  • Concept tests.
  • Product tests, flavour tests.
  • Packing tests.
  • Testing communication materials, advertisements, slogans.

Methodology:

Data are collected by face-to-face interviews. Interviewers speak to passer-bys in busy public places of bigger towns and select the respondents with the help of a filter questionnaire according to the conditions laid down together with the Client. The selected respondents are than led into a nearby hall where the main interview is conducted. At the end of the interview respondents are given a ‘thank you’ gift for their participation.

In order to conduct such a research the penetration of the target group should be at least 20% in the adult population. If it is lower than that, preliminary organizing is necessary to conduct the research.

Arising from the method itself interviews can not be longer than 20-25 minutes.

The research is usually conducted in 2-3 settlements, characteristically in big towns. Most frequently used sample settlements are Budapest, Győr, Miskolc, Pécs, Szeged, but it is possible to select other sample settlements, too, according to the Clients’ needs.

Minimum sample size is 100 persons, but the sample size of our in-hall researches – depending on the topic of the research – is usually 150-500 persons.

Research process:

We can start an in-hall research any time depending on our Clients’ needs.

Standard timing of the research is the following:

  • preparing the research: 4-5 working days;
  • data collection: 2-5 days depending on the sample size and the penetration of the target group;
  • data processing, topline / preliminary results: 4 working days;
  • preparing the research report: 5 working days.
